The first visit

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that you bring your child in to see us by his/her first birthday. Though this may sound early, we can teach you proper pediatric oral hygiene techniques, check for cavities, and watch for developmental problems.

This first appointment is an educational visit. We will discuss diet, hygiene, growth and development, fluoride uses, teething, and habit issues. We will specifically design a home care routine with you to promote healthy teeth and gums. We will also complete a comprehensive examination.

Most of all, we want to make sure your child has a positive experience at our office and will be a regular visitor for years to come.

Prophylaxis Visit

Your child’s regular checkups will provide the key to your child’s lifetime of dental health. These visits combine brushing and flossing skills review, a thorough exam, a cleaning (if needed), x-rays (when necessary) and a fluoride treatment. Our strong preventive approach helps to eliminate the need for more extensive dental treatment.

Dental Sealant

Early care of children’s teeth is important in setting the stage for a life of healthy teeth and gums. The first step in having a healthy mouth is preventing tooth decay, and sealants can offer major protection against cavities.

A sealant is a thin plastic coating, which is placed in the grooves on the chewing surface of the back teeth. Sealants keep food and bacteria from packing into the grooves of teeth. It protects the enamel from plaque and acids.

When properly placed, sealants are nearly 100% effective in preventing decay in back teeth.

Esthetic Kinder Crowns

Many times if your child has extensive cavities, tooth colored fillings are not enough and crowns are necessary. Stainless steel crowns or silver crowns have been the gold standard for pediatric dentistry. Smile Creators Dental Clinic offers your child more esthetic option: Zirconia Kinder Krowns.

Kinder Krowns are a favored type of pediatric crown not only for their natural tooth look and comfortable fit but also because they are 100% biocompatible and metal free. Kinder Krowns are made of Zirconia which is product that is stronger than many other restorations on the market and has been used in the medical field for over 40 years.

General Anesthesia

Most children do well with our positive attitudes and continual conversation. If your child needs extensive or complicated procedures that will take a long time to complete, or needs several procedures done all at the same time, general anesthesia may be recommended. Your child will sleep through the procedure and have no memory of it.

You don’t have to worry. A pediatric anesthesiologist — a doctor who specializes in anesthesia for children — will give your child the medications that will make him or her sleep soundly during the procedure.
